Dr. Jeffrey McLean Appointed Interim Director
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jeffrey McLean has been appointed Interim Director of the University of Washington Microbial Interactions & Microbiome Center (mim_c), effective immediately.
Dr. McLean is a Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Microbiology, as well as a long-standing member of the UW microbiome research community. His research focuses on the spatial and metabolic interactions within complex microbial communities, with an emphasis on oral and environmental microbiomes. He has also been a member of the mim_c steering committee and previously served as the Center's interim co-Director with Dr. Neel Dey. Dr. McLean has been an active contributor to mim_c’s mission of advancing microbiome science through collaboration, mentorship, and the development of innovative technologies. We are grateful for his leadership and dedication to the vibrant community of microbiome researchers on our campuses and at neighboring institutions.
A recruitment and hire process for the permanent Director of mim_c is currently underway. Dr. McLean will oversee the Center's scientific and community activities until the next Director is in place.
